Our trustees

  1. Philip Saich
Philip launched Headstart4Babies with fiancee Karen Laker in January 2005 when their son Ben was being treated for severe plagiocephaly. An experienced marketing and communications professional, Philip runs his own graphic design and marketing agency, Postscript Communications Ltd. Philip lives in Lower Cambourne, near Cambridge, with Karen and son Ben, and enjoys sport, film, cookery and literature.
  2. Karen Laker
Co-founder of Headstart4Babies, Karen now takes responsibility for the charity's day-to-day administration, including handling correspondence, responding to requests for information and managing the accounts. A talented complementary therapist, Karen also specialises in reflexology, Indian head massage and Hopi ear candle therapy under her Harmony Within brand. Karen lives in Lower Cambourne, near Cambridge, with Philip and son Ben, and enjoys gardening, travel and all things mind, body and spirit.
  3. Sally Laflin
Sally became a trustee in 2007, almost a year after her son Ollie received treatment for severe plagiocephaly. Sally has been married to Nick since 2004 and lives in Welwyn Garden City with Nick and Ollie. Sally is a Special Needs Coordinator in a primary school in Herts and enjoys salsa dancing, running, reading and the theatre, when she finds the time!
  4. Rachel Meade
Rachel Meade worked in communications for 15 years, holding senior posts at the BBC, before stopping work to become a full-time mother to twins Noah and Joe. Noah was affected by severe plagiocephaly and brachiocephaly, which was improved by private helmet treatment. The journey to find out more about the condition and to get it recognised by medical professionals inspired Rachel to become a trustee with Headstart4Babies. Rachel is married and lives in South London.
